Biography

Giuseppe Bevilacqua is a multidisciplinary artist who draws on ancient pictorial techniques, reworking them through a contemporary lens.

The works he creates appear as simple canvases, yet they are the result of a complex and dynamic process. Starting from photographs taken by himself or by photographers he collaborates with, the artist transfers everything into the digital realm, creating interlocking elements, compositions, and dreamlike narratives.
Once the digital design phase is complete, he proceeds with printing the subject onto linen or cotton canvas, depending on the desired texture and effect, before finally dedicating himself to the painterly intervention.

This final stage ensures not only the uniqueness of each work—always different, as they are the outcome of multiple creative phases—but also a three-dimensional physicality, achieved through the use of acrylic or oil paint applied directly onto the printed subjects.

Beginning with an inner reflection, Bevilacqua investigates the materialization of the subconscious, the transposition of dreams, and how discordant figures and elements can visually evoke the deepest layers of the unconscious.
His works are evocative and arise from introspection and from a study of the artist’s self, emerging from the darkness of the unknown—suggested by the prevalence of black—to unfold into a sublime balance between dream and hope: a fusion of Nature and art that Giuseppe presents as a true journey with eyes wide open.
