Michelangelo Toffetti
Biography
Michelangelo Toffetti was born in Treviglio on 24 January 1976. He didn’t have time to finish middle school in 1991 before the call to art immediately made his voice heard.
Young offspring of his father Mario Toffetti, defined by his contemporaries as “the sculptor of the Popes”, the very young artist slavishly follows his father’s teachings and with innate mastery works to model plasticine and clay to give life to the first preparatory sketches, technically indeterminate but which characterize the first abstractions that his imagination suggests to him. Through his experiments he develops a completely personal technique and pours his most direct and sincere expression into the sketches. He also specializes in the lost wax casting technique for bronze sculptures.
From the sketch to the actual work the step is short, he quickly learns the most advanced sculptural techniques (deshaping – pointing – enlarging – finishing – sanding – and polishing) which allow him to carry out works of imaginative beauty in complete autonomy, so who in 2014 was awarded “Italian Excellence” for sculpture in Washington D.C. at Caffè Milano in Nuschese.
